About the Euro
The euro is the currency of twenty European Union countries, and in Iran it is bought for travel, study, medical care and trade with Europe.
The euro's free-market rate in Iran is built from two things: the free-market dollar rate and the euro-to-dollar rate on world markets.
What moves the price
- The free-market dollar rate in Iran; almost every move in it passes straight through to the euro.
- The euro-to-dollar rate on world markets, which follows European Central Bank policy and the euro-area economy.
- Seasonal demand from travel and university fees.

Common questions
Why doesn't the euro always move with the dollar?
If the euro-to-dollar rate moves on world markets, the euro can rise or fall even while the dollar stands still.
Can I convert euros to dollars?
Yes. Choose both currencies under Convert; the rate is worked out from the same market prices.
This page explains; it does not advise buying or selling. Prices are free-market rates, and every trade's firm price is shown before you confirm.
